Constan "Costa" Antonios Magoulas aka "Gus", 98 of Augusta, GA, passed away on December 31st at NHC Healthcare in North Augusta with his family by his side.

Born in Charleston, SC to Antonia (Palassis) and Antonio Magoulas in 1927. He graduated from Charleston High in 1947, served in the Navy in WWII prior to graduating from the University of South Carolina in 1953.
He transferred to Augusta, GA in 1959 while working for Sears Robuck Company prior to retiring from selling insurance for Metropolitan Life.

He was married to Joan Carabatsos Magoulas and they shared a love of the Greek Orthodox faith. Costa spent 60+ years as the Augusta Greek Orthodox Church choir director where Joan was the organist until her death. He and Joan also enjoyed a nice round of golf. After Joan's death in 1984, he became an active member of the Augusta Widow and Widowers Club, where he met his longtime companion Helen Coleman. They spent many years together traveling, especially to Hawaii.

Costa is survived by his brother Ross Magoulas (Charleston) son, Tony Magoulas (Jenny)(Augusta), daughter, Gigi Magoulas (Deneen)(North Augusta), daughter Andrea Balke (Ben)(Jacksonville, FL), grandchildren Matthew Magoulas (Casey), Jacob Magoulas (Monica), Olivia Burns (Matt), Justin Balke (Emily), Bradley Balke, great grandchildren Brinley Magoulas, Evelyn Magoulas, Hayes Magoulas, Joanna Burns, Carter Balke, Makenzie Cromer and Caden Cromer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonia and Antonio Magoulas; wife, Joan C. Magoulas; brother Mike Magoulas; sister Stella Raptakis, and companion Helen Coleman.

Visitation will be held at Platts Funeral Home, 721 Crawford Avenue from 6pm to 8pm on Monday, January 5th with the trisiagion to follow. The funeral service will be held at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on Telfair Street in Augusta on Tuesday, January 6th at 12pm. Pallbearers are Ben Balke, Jacob Magoulas, Matthew Magoulas, Justin Balke, Bradley Balke, and Matt Burns.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Augusta GA in his honor.
