Cindy Gilbert

December 8, 1957 — June 24, 2025

Cindy Linnea Thom Gilbert departed this life on 24 June 2025, at the age of 67. She was surrounded in the love of her partner, James, her daughters, two beloved cats, and dear friends Susan Leeds and LeAnna Hall. Cindy leaves a legacy marked by quiet strength, boundless love, and a resolute independence.

Born in Dayton, Ohio to Arthur and Elizabeth Thom, Cindy entered the world with a determination that remained undimmed. She grew up in Annapolis, Maryland, graduating from Annapolis High School. She earned an Associate of Arts degree from Anne Arundel Community College. Cindy went on to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Alabama. Her dedication to education continued when she earned a Master of Science in Management at Southern Wesleyan University.

Cindy’s 44-year nursing career took her across the U.S.A. and the Middle East. Nursing was her calling, a testament to her unwavering compassion for others. The sincerity and respect she held for her friends and family extended to her patients. Throughout her career, she brought comfort and meaning to all she met.

Cindy was the doting mother of Elizabeth (Sri) Gilbert and Robyn (Eric) Riddle. She raised her family with tenderness and generosity. She listened without haste, offered counsel without judgment, and loved without reservation.

Cindy held close her two grandchildren, Wes and Xander Riddle, in unconditional devotion. Known as "Gramms" to them and many neighborhood children, Cindy's spirit will continue to inspire, serving as an enduring source of love for generations to come.

Cindy possessed a keen mind, a subtle wit, and a calm confidence that conveyed volumes. She upheld her beliefs with grace and did what was right - not for praise but because that was her nature.

She lived with authenticity and cherished her friends and family with a depth that defies measure. Her influence remains ever-present in gestures remembered, values instilled, and a love that lingers.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) at https://madd.org/ or 877.ASK.MADD (1.877.275.6233).
