Charles Matthew Dunaway

Charles was born on October 30, 1934 in Augusta, GA. He was the son of the late Hogan E. Dunaway and Grace Bunn Dunaway. Charles was a 1954 graduate of Boys’ Catholic High School and lived his entire life in Augusta, GA. Charles was a successful businessman. He worked in the family printing business (Dunaway Printing Company), was the owner and operator of Charles Dunaway Supply and Dunaway Rental. He was a lifelong member of Mann Memorial Methodist Church now Mann-Mize. Despite his hearing impairment he loved to meet people and talk about deep sea fishing, antique tractors, baseball and football. You would find him later in life watching a football or baseball game on TV especially on Saturday. Charles was dedicated to the upkeep of his church, and many times you could find him on his Farmall Cub tractor keeping the church grass cut. Charles was proceeded in death by his wife Lois A. Dunaway.

He is survived by his loving daughter Charlene D. Whittle (Mark) of Beech Island, SC., two granddaughters Danielle W. Campbell (Mark) of Watkinsville, GA, and Devin W. Henderson (Brian) of Jackson, SC.. six great-grandchildren, Matthew Campbell, Mary Grace Campbell, Sydney Campbell, Amelia Henderson, Kenslee Henderson, Evelyn Henderson.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday November 29 at 10 a.m.at Mann-Mize Methodist Church in Augusta, GA. Visitation to follow in the fellowship hall with refreshments served. Please join us to do the two things dad loved most to do eat and talk.
