Charles Franklin Cason, 78, of Evans, Georgia passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024, in Augusta, Georgia.
Charles was born in Augusta, Georgia to Charlie and Mattie Cason on March 31, 1946.
Charles graduated from the Academy of Richmond County and Augusta University. He was married to his loving wife, Cindy, for the last 57 years.
He worked at Georgia Power in State Support of the Fleet Services Division for 42 years. He also served in the Marine Reserves.
Charles was heavily involved in many organizations throughout the years including Martinez/Evans Little League (President), Georgia Power State Ambassadors (Director at Large), United Methodist Men (President), Men in Mission, Journey Sunday School, Augusta Genealogy Club, and Gideons.
Charles received a lifetime volunteer award from the Georgia Power State Ambassadors.
Charles is survived by his wife, Cindy, children Lisa (David) Greene, Amy (Billy) Black, Chip (Katie) Cason, six grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews who were very special to him.
The pallbearers will be his grandsons Cason Greene, Wyatt Cason, Wheeler Cason, Christian Greene, Walker Cason, and Reagan Black.
Honorary pallbearers will be Georgia Power Ambassadors, Saturday Men’s Group (That Flippin’ Egg Breakfast Bunch), and The Monday Men’s Retiree Group.
Charles was very much a character who never met a stranger. His love for the Lord, family, and friends, was evident in everything he did. He was a big guy who loved even bigger. The world is a little less bright without him in it.
Memorials may be given to The Gideons or Wesley Music Ministry. The family of Charles wishes to extend their sincere thanks for the staff of Piedmont Hospital of Augusta.
Visitation will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, September 3 at Wesley United Methodist Church with the funeral service following at 2pm. Burial will be immediately following at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
