Mrs. Carole Jean Habegger, beloved wife of 57 years of the late Alan Habegger, peacefully entered into rest with our Lord and Savior in the presence of her two sons on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Piedmont Hospital.
Carole was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to James and Edith Maners. After graduating high school, she met Alan Habegger, who would become the love of her life. They married on September 23, 1966, and a job transfer brought the young family to the Athens area and eventually to Evans, Georgia.
She was employed as an interior decorator and was proficient as a sales clerk and a paint supplies and crafts store, among other endeavors such as being co-owner of a bakery and decorating cakes.
Carole enjoyed revealing her artistic ability through various arts & crafts, sewing, quilting, and acrylic painting projects. Several of her creations reside in the homes of family and friends and are treasured as a remembrance of her. She was not afraid to get dirty and enjoyed gardening and landscaping. She also could make anything grow as could be seen by the various flowers and plants inside and around her home.
Carole had a friendly disposition and many dear friends. She could have a feisty spirit but had the heart of a servant and was always helping and serving others, especially her family. She was very generous and was an excellent cook. One could hardly leave her home without being provided food or some other gift to take with them. Carole also enjoyed teaching. She taught acrylic painting for many years, and while her two boys were young, served as a Sunday School teacher. She was involved in the local Newcomers Club and was also a member of the book club.
But most of all, her family will remember her as a very loving, generous, and dependable woman, a caring and faithful wife of 57 years, a wonderful Mom to her two sons, and a great Nana to all her grandchildren. She was truly loved and will be dearly missed by all her friends and family.
She is survived by her sons, Christopher A. Habegger and wife, Joyce, and Corey M. Habegger, her grandchildren, Kristin Habegger, Chase Habegger and Kristopher Logan Neely-Habegger, her sister, Ellen Baker and her niece, Brenda Barile.
There will be no local services, but if desired, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org or to the Parkinson’s Foundation at www.parkinson.org.
Please leave condolences in the online guestbook.
