Carol Dew (Anderson), 87, born April 21, 1938, in Hudson, MA passed peacefully into eternal rest on March 1, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of deep faith, steadfast love, and cherished family traditions.
Carol met the love of her life, Lt. Col. Herbert William Dew Jr., while in nurses training at Massachusetts General Hospital. Their shared calling to service and devotion to one another led to their marriage on August 22, 1959. As a devoted Army wife, Carol embraced the adventure and challenge of military life. Together they moved throughout the United States and spent treasured time stationed in Germany before retiring to Augusta, Georgia in 1976.
Above all, Carol was devoted to her family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lt. Col. Herbert William Dew, Jr. She is survived by her son, Herbert William Dew III (Shannon) of Greenville, South Carolina; and her daughter, Kathleen Dew Cassedy (Collin) of Evans, Georgia. She was a devoted grandmother to Herbert Dew IV (Lauren), Glenn Cassedy (Chelsea), Victoria Tallents (Jacob), Colleen Reynolds (Nick), Mattie Jones (Drake), Emma Kate Seckinger, and Meg Seckinger, and a proud great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren who were among her greatest joys.
A woman who treasured her New England roots and her Irish descent, Carol carried her love of family wherever life took her. She was the heart of every holiday—especially Christmas—faithfully creating warmth, beauty, and traditions that will continue for generations. She had a quick wit, an easy laugh, and a kind word for everyone she met. To know her was to feel welcomed.
Carol embodied a rare and beautiful blend of love and duty. Her life was marked by unwavering faith and quiet strength. She was a longtime member of the Greenbrier Garden Club and a faithful member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church.
Her life was full—full of faith, full of family, and full of love. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on in the traditions she built, the faith she modeled, and the generations who will follow.
A funeral Mass will be held at St Mary on the Hill Catholic Church on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at 11:00 am followed by burial at Westover Memorial Cemetery and a Celebration of Life reception for family and friends at Platt’s Funeral home (337 N Belair Rd, Evans, GA, 30809) from 2-4 pm.
