Carl Lewis Kemp

Mr. Carl Lewis Kemp, 81, of Evans, GA entered into rest on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. He was born to the late Waymon and Aren (Williams) Kemp on October 25, 1944 in Screven County, Sylvania, GA.

Lewis graduated from technical school in Columbia, where he developed the skills that would lead to a long and fulfilling career as a mechanic. He dedicated more than 25 years to Thomson Company as a sewing machine mechanic. He later worked for more than 10 years as a mechanic at MCG. Lewis also had the privilege of working alongside his family for 10 years at ATSCO, Inc.

Lewis leaves behind his beloved wife of 63 years, Barbara (Suggs) Kemp; daughter, Carlette Robinson (Randy); sons, Randy Kemp (Wendy) and David Kemp; and brother, Ottis Kemp. He also is survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly.

In addition to his parents, Lewis is preceded in death by his sister, Myrtle Kemp; and brothers, David Aren "Arnie" Kemp and Herman Lee "HL" Kemp.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at 2:00pm at Platt's Funeral Home, 337 N. Belair Road, Evans, GA 30809, with Pastor Bill Hilley of Grace Baptist Church officiating. The family will recieve friends from 1:00pm until the time of service.
