Mrs. Barbara Cumbus Bradford was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 21, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Bobby Bradford of Evans, Georgia. Born in Barnesville, Georgia to the late Delmar and Marguerite Cumbus, Barbara spent most of her life in Columbia County Georgia. She graduated from Butler High School and attended Augusta College. She retired from Bell South after nearly 38 years of dedicated service to devote herself to caring for her husband.
Barbara was a faithful member of Kiokee Baptist Church in Appling, Georgia, and a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers. She also enjoyed dancing on Saturdays with friends at Augusta Christian Singles Dance Inc.
She is preceded in death by her husband of nearly 38 years, Bobby Bradford, and her sister, Kay Thomas. She is survived by her sons, Thomas Hitt III of Evans and Jason Bradford (Sunni) of Lincolnton; stepsons, William Bradford (Rilla) of Evans, Shaw Bradford (Marianne) of Appling, and Bobby Bradford of Lincolnton; stepdaughters, Elaine Johnson of Grovetown and Cindy Fox of Covington, GA; seventeen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Dianna Stapleton of Colorado, Gloria Howard of Virginia, and Connie Middaugh of Johnson City, TN; along with five nephews and three nieces.
As we remember Barbara, we reflect on a life rich in love, resilience, and a passion for creating memories with those that she cared for. She touched the hearts of many, leaving behind not just memories, but also an inspiring example of strength and commitment to family. Her spirit will continue to guide and inspire those fortunate enough to have known her. Barbara’s family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace, reunited with her loving husband and loved ones who went before her, and in the presence of her Savior, whom she faithfully served all her life.
The family will receive friends Friday, August 29, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Platts Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 11:00 am at Kiokee Baptist Church. Following the service she will be laid to rest at Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Tracy McDaniel’s Sunday School class.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson’s Foundation or the Kiokee Baptist Tracy McDaniel’s Senior Sunday School class.
