Andre Nicholas Ferguson, Sr., aged 68, of Martinez, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, April 22, 2024. He was not alone as Bridgett, his profound Life partner, was by his side till the end. Andre, born on October 3, 1955, in Queens, New York, was the beloved son of the late Dr. Thomas Ferguson, Sr., and Sadie Belle Georgianna Schwecke. He Grow up around his loving siblings Thomas Eugene Ferguson Jr., Alonzo “Lonnie” Adrienne Ferguson, Patrick Glenn Ferguson, Tony Ferguson, and sisters, JoAnn Theresa Fletcher and Stephanie Ferguson. The bond they shared was profound and enduring, laying a foundation of loyalty and support that carried throughout their years. An early childhood remembrance, was the family puppy chasing Andre while tugging at his underwear nearly pulling them down. This affectionately earned Andre the nickname of “Draws” which he embraced as sibling love. He had an uncontrollable laugh that warmed a conversation telling old family stories and jokes. Andre was known for his charismatic personality and a knack for engaging with people from all walks of life. It was here, amidst the eclectic mix of cultures and the hustle of city life, that Andre’s resilient spirit and ambitious nature began to take shape.
In 1978, at the age of 23, Andre embarked on a new adventure and with the assistance of his brother Tommy, he moved to Miami, Florida. This move marked a beginning of a new chapter in his life. Shortly after settling in Miami, Andre sent for his then-wife Gayle and together they started their family with sons Andre Jr. and Christopher. Both Andre Sr. and Gayle were employed with Eastern Airlines before making a pivotal move to Atlanta, Georgia. Andre ventured into the world of sales, displaying a remarkable talent for persuasion and a deep understanding of customer needs. His career flourished, and quickly rose to the position of vice president of sales at a prominent alarm company. However, it was his subsequent move to Augusta that ignited Andre’s passion for entrepreneurship. With a comprehensive grasp of the alarm business, and a keen insight into the local market, he established “Stop Security,” a company that would defined his CEO leadership and legacy that culminated of Andre’s experience, skills and ambition. Under his leadership, the company thrived, becoming a respected name in security services, and a testament to his dedication and entrepreneurial spirit. After an unfortunate divorce, Andre’s journey from the streets of Queens to Miami, and as a successful business owner in Augusta encapsulates a story of one’s aspirations. Andre’s interests extended beyond his professional life. He was an avid golfer, relishing the serene mornings on the golf course. He was a culinary enthusiast who took particular delight in crafting the perfect chicken parmesan. His joy in driving “The Benz” was well-known as a symbol of his success from humble beginnings.
Andre is survived by his loving Bridgett Garnett, who stayed by his side through his decline in health from 2019. Andre’s previously mentioned brothers and sisters, Thomas Jr. (Deborah), Alonzo, Patrick (Natalie) Tony, JoAnn (Bernard) and Stephanie. His sons, Andre Ferguson Jr. and Christopher Ferguson (Ashley). Bridget’s children Emanuel Bing, Michael Garnett, Mark Garnett and Hollie Garnett. Andre’s grandchildren Avery Gwendolyn Ferguson and Andre James Ferguson. There are a long host of Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, Friends and Neighbors that are to numerous to mention. If there is anyone who unfortunately has not been recognized, please understand that it is not intentional. We must now say goodbye to our beloved Andre, who will always be remembered, for his kindness and lasting love of our family.
A memorial service will be held in the Belair Road chapel of Platt’s Funeral Home at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 11, 2024. The family will greet friends from 11:00 Am until time of service.
