Augusta, GA – Mrs. Wilma Deloris Moody Gaither, 82, beloved wife of Howard Gaither, entered into rest on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at her residence.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Whole Life Ministries with Dr. Sandra Kennedy officiating.
Mrs. Gaither was born in Alton, Illinois to Wilburn Thurman and Lena Thomas Moody. She grew up in Wood River, Illinois and graduated from Roxana (IL) High School. Mrs. Gaither gave her life to Christ on Pearl Harbor Day, December 7, 1941. She married her husband Howard Eugene Gaither on July 1, 1950 and they shared 65 years of marriage together. Mrs. Gaither and her husband lived in New Jersey and Atlanta before finally settling down in Augusta. She served her Lord faithfully at Whole Life Ministries where she served in the usher ministry, taught Bible Class, was involved in the couples’ ministry and served on the Ministry Board. While living in NJ, she served as president of the local chapter of the Women’s Aglow Fellowship.
In addition to her husband of 65 years, Mrs. Gaither is survived by her children, LaVonne Beale (Roger) of Peachtree City, GA, Ron Gaither of Decatur, GA, and Dee Felt (fiancé Buster Brown) of Augusta; her four granddaughters, Leah Gaither of Gainesville, GA, Anna and Grace Felt both of Augusta, and Megan Gaither of Decatur, GA; her three brothers, Stan Moody (Marilyn) of Phenix City, AL, John Moody (Louise) of St. Louis, MO, and Jack Moody (Lynn) of Fayetteville, AR; one sister, Linda Hollis (Nick) of Salina, KS; and by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Wilburn Moody.
