Martinez, GA---Mr. William Michael Hodges, Jr., 66, entered into rest on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 in the Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with Father Michael Roverse officiating. Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens with military honors by the U. S. Army.
Mr. Hodges was a native of Memphis, Tennessee but had lived in Columbia County for 40 years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, proudly serving in Viet Nam as a Cobra Assault Helicopter Pilot and was a flight instructor. Mr. Hodges was a member of the Catholic Faith and attended St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. He was an avid fisherman and camper but mostly enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Michael Hodges, Sr. and Marie Aldret Hodges, two brothers, Robert Allen Hodges and Donald Howard Hodges and by his son, Matthew J. Hodges.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Hodges of Martinez, GA, sons, William Michael Hodges III (Patsy) of Cape May, NJ, Robert Wayne Hodges (Stephanie) of Evans, GA, Christopher Michael Hodges (Judith) of Flintstone, GA and Charles Andrew Hodges of Aiken, SC, brother, Sean Michael Hodges (April) of Martinez, GA, sisters, Pam M. Upp (Dave) of Hartford City, IN, Ida Belinda Winters and Debbie Wood, both of Deland, FL, Carren Sleister (Robert) of Harlem, GA and Leslie Lowe (John) of Grovetown, GA, eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and his step-mother, Theo Hodges of Harlem, GA.
