William "Bill" E. Mcbride, Jr.

William “Bill” E. McBride, Jr., 71, of Martinez, GA, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 19, 2023.

Bill was born in Ft. Benning, GA to William E. and Helen R. McBride on October 30, 1951. Bill married Terry on July 21, 1978 in Aviano, Italy. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Troy State University.

He was the Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police for Augusta University for 20 years prior to his retirement. He served in the United States Air Force from April 1, 1974 to November 30, 1995. He graduated from the USAF Special Investigations Academy, second in his class, in May of 1980 and served the remainder of his AF career as a Special Agent for the AF Office of Special Investigation. He was assigned to Hurlburt Field AFB, FL as Special Agent In Charge and led his team to win Outstanding Small Detachment of the Year two years in a row, competing with over 65 detachments worldwide.

Bill is preceded in death by his father William E. McBride, his mother Helen R. McBride and his brother Jimmie Gray McBride.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Teresa A. McBride, son William E. McBride, III, sister Robbie McBride (Fred Grandchamp), brother Jerry McBride (Faye).

Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm Friday, January 27, 2023 at Platts Funeral Home 337 North Belair Road, Evans, GA 30809

Celebration of Life will be 11:00 am Saturday, January 28, 2023 28th at Warren Baptist Church 3203 Washington Road, Augusta, GA 30907.
