Thomas Mccall Riley

Augusta, GA---Mr. Thomas McCall Riley, 92, entered into rest on July 17, 2013 at Old Capitol Nursing Home, Louisville, GA, after a brief illness.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
A native of Macon, Georgia, he was born March 2, 1921. He attended Macon Public Schools. He graduated from the University of Georgia, receiving a BA and the University of South Carolina, receiving a Master’s Degree. He did further graduate work at Columbia University, in New York. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity at the University of Georgia.
Mr. Riley served in the U. S. Army, as an officer, during WW II, in the 116th Infantry, 29th Division. He was wounded following the D-Day Invasion of Europe and was hospitalized in Europe, later being transferred, for further recuperation, to the then Oliver General Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.
He was employed by DuPont at the New Ellenton Plant and by Augusta College from which he retired after holding Administrative and Teaching positions.
He was a member of the Augusta Kiwanis Club, receiving the Hixon Award for his WW II service in the 116th Infantry, 29th Division. He was a member of the Augusta Country Club and was active in the organization of The Friends of the Augusta Library.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Carter Riley of Augusta, GA, daughters, Neville Riley Hudson of Augusta, GA and Janet Riley Barrow (Charlie) of Savannah, GA, grandchildren, Charles Ellis Waring Barrow (Katherine) of Athens, GA, Virginia Cumming Reed of Charleston, SC, Thomas Bryan Barrow of Savannah, GA and Carolyn Virginia Couch (Greg) of Cary, NC, great grandchildren, Thomas Center Reed III, Barrow Huger Reed, Ellah Ripley Couch and Charles Ellis Waring Barrow, Jr.
The family suggests that memorials be made, to a charity of one’s choice.
