Augusta, GA---Sara “Cookie” Cook Martin, 66, passed away at her home on Wednesday, March 27, 2013.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Westover Memorial Park with Pastor Paul Sherwood officiating.
Cookie was a lifelong resident of Augusta. She was a graduate of the Academy of Richmond County and Georgia Southern University. She was a lifelong member of Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church and served as the Director of their Mother’s Morning Out program for 14 years. Cookie then worked as an elementary and special education teacher with the Richmond County Board of Education for 20 years. She was a member of the Junior League of Augusta and Alpha Zeta, an educational service organization. She enjoyed volunteering, traveling, friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Sara Bailey Cook.
Survivors include her son, Dennis Martin of Augusta, GA, daughter, Ashley Martin Harper and husband, Dan of Athens, GA, sister, Kay Cook Schafer and husband, Billy of Augusta, GA, grandchildren, Mary Martin Harper and Daniel Harper, both of Athens, GA, uncle, Dr. Joseph Peyton Bailey and wife, LePage of Augusta, GA and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 29, 2013 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Platt’s Crawford Avenue.
