Sandra Grace Fussell Farmer, age 77, died after a long illness from a stroke compounded by a recent bout with COVID on April 13, 2022, at home in Grovetown, GA.
Sandra is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Marvin R. Farmer, of Milledgeville, GA, her daughter, Andrea Carolyn “Carrie” Farmer, of Grovetown, Sister-in-Law, Marcia Jones, of Martinez, GA, and a close cousin, Karen Lee (Robert) of Jacksonville, FL.
Sandra was born on May 27, 1944, in Savannah, GA, to parents Grace Fussell and Harry Fussell. She graduated from West Rome High School and Georgia College in Milledgeville with a degree in English Literature.
Sandra accompanied her husband, a career Army officer, to his various postings in the United States and overseas, including Fort Benning, GA, Fort Bragg, NC, Fort Bliss, TX, Fort Knox, KY, University of Georgia, Athens, GA, Armed Forces Staff College, Norforrk, VA, Patch Barracks, Stuttgart, GE, Fort Irvin, CA and Fort Gordon, GA. The family settled in nearby Grovetown, GA, and have resided there since 1989.
Sandra was a wonderful wife and mother, devoting much of her time to the care of their daughter, Carrie. Family was central to her life, and she prized her many visits over the years with her relatives.
Born with a green thumb, she was proud of her beautiful plants and garden. Small creatures such as birds, butterflies, bees, dragonflies, frogs, lizards and ladybugs held a special place in her affections. An accomplished homemaker, she was an avid reader, marvelous cook, music and movie aficionado, and skilled in many arts and crafts. Her intelligence, wit, and warmth will be missed by all who knew her.
