Augusta, GA---Ruth "Bobbie" Hightower Roberts beloved wife of 63 years to the late Julian Haley Roberts died Monday, January 30, 2012.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Westover Memorial Park with the Rev. Dan Brown officiating.

Mrs. Roberts was born in Thomaston, Georgia and had lived in Augusta for more than 68 years. She was the daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Robert Edgar Hightower, Jr. of Thomaston, Georgia. Her sister was the late Mrs. Alfred "Gina" D. Kennedy of Atlanta, Georgia.

Mrs. Roberts graduated from Washington Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia and attended The University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. She was a member of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church. Mrs. Roberts was past president of Gateway Garden Club, Sand Hills Garden Club and The Garden Club of Georgia. She was chairman of the Augusta Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, and worked with the Augusta Chapter of the American Red Cross. She was a member of The National Society of Colonial Dames of America, The Daughters of the American Revolution, The Augusta Assembly, and was a member of The Junior League of Augusta.

Mrs. Roberts is survived by her two children, Julian Haley Roberts, Jr. and his wife Martha Walker Roberts of Augusta, and Ruth Roberts Cowan and her husband Donald Cowan of Nashville, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Ruth Hightower Morris of Bejing, China, Matilda Reaney Morris of Dallas, Texas, Mary Morris Enkema of Franklin, Tennessee, Anne Lathrop Traver of Nashville, Tennessee, Julian Haley Roberts III, and Michael Pierce Roberts of Augusta, Georgia; and six great grand children, Harrison Hall Enkema, Alexander Petrus Enkema, and Isabella Morris Enkema of Franklin, Tennessee, Emily Akin Morris Piltzer of Rome, Italy, Grace Katherine Roberts and Ruth Walker Roberts of Augusta, Georgia.

The family will receive friends and family at Platt's Funeral Home on Crawford Avenue from 5 to 7 PM on Wednesday, February 1, 2012.
