Roy Lynn Hickman Ii

Roy Lynn Hickman, 79, of Evans, GA, was called home on February 2, 2023 with his loving family by his side.

Roy was born in Dunbar, WV to Roy and Rebekah Hickman on May 16, 1943. He graduated from Marshall University with both a Bachelor degree (1965) and Master degree (1969). On August 8, 1970, he married Karen Sue Snider in Kopperston, WV.

He was the owner and operator of Reliance Medical Supply, INC. He also spent time working Sales in the medical and real estate fields.

Roy appreciated time spent within his community. Roy enjoyed activities such as golfing, traveling, cooking, working with his hands on creative projects and he was active in his faith as a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. He spent time as a Deacon and an Elder. He was also a member of the choir. His greatest passion, however, was his family. He was a devoted husband, a dedicated father and a doting grandfather, affectionately known as “Ace”.

Roy is survived by his cherished wife of 52 years, Karen Hickman; daughters, Jennifer Walden and husband, Mark and Rebekah Gay and husband, Freeman; son, Benjamin Hickman and wife, Shannon; grandchildren, Wren and Raleigh Walden, Lynora Gay, and Ryan, Dawn and Caroline Hickman; step-grandson, Ronald Bogdon; sister, Dr. Lucinda Elliott and brother, Samuel Hickman, as well as extended family, church family and dear family friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Justin Marshall Hickman.

In lieu of flowers, the Hickman family kindly requests donations in Roy’s honor be made to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church.

Visitation will be held at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church 3551 Wheeler Rd. Augusta, GA 30909 on Monday, February 6, 2023 from 2-3pm. The memorial service, officiated by Rev. Ed Rees, will immediately follow at 3pm. Funeral arrangements are being made with the assistance of Platt’s Funeral Home.
