AUGUSTA, GA Mrs. Rosemary Brittingham Menk of Augusta died December 27th 2011 at 5 p.m.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at Saint Mary on the Hill Catholic Church on Friday, December 30, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Scott Winchell serving as celebrant. Following the mass, the family will receive friends in the church narthex.
Mrs. Menk was born in Augusta, June 26th, 1927. She was a member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church and Grace Fellowship Church. She was a graduate of The College of New Rochelle in New Rochelle, New York. She received the Ursula Lourus Citation from the college in 1984.
Mrs. Menk was a member of Child Evangelism Fellowship and she taught a neighborhood children’s bible class for 17 years. She taught the Bible at Saint Mary’s and Immaculate Conception Schools and Cashiers, NC Christian Academy. Mrs. Menk served on The Meals on Wheels Advisory Council when it was started in Augusta. She was a past President of The Diabetes Association and past President of Saint Joseph Hospital Auxiliary. She was past President of Saint Mary’s Ladies Auxiliary and served on Saint Mary’s Parish Council for 4 years. Mrs. Menk served on the Board for a ladies monthly prayer breakfast at First Assembly of God Church. She was a former member of Theresians of Augusta and served on the International Executive board. She was a life member of Hillside Garden Club.
She is survived by her husband Peter Murray Menk, Augusta and 5 children, Mary Louise Menk Rucker, Catherine Regina Mosley (Curtis Glenn), Paul Thomas Menk (Tandy), Rosemary Menk Moseley (Andy), Augusta, GA; and Andrew Joseph Menk, Virginia Beach, VA; one daughter-in-law, Marjorie Lynn Menk; preceded by her son Peter Murray Menk, Jr.; 9 grandchildren; Peter Murray Menk, III, Brent Thomas Folsom, Jacqueline Tandy Menk, Catherine Rose Folsom, James Patrick Moseley, Paul Thomas Menk, Jr., Mary Louise Menk, Augusta, GA; Andrew John Menk, Charles Joseph Menk, Norfolk, VA; one brother, Herman Brittingham, Augusta, GA, and two deceased brothers, Thomas William Brittingham and Joseph Brittingham, and one sister, Louise Brittingham Holley, deceased.
Pallbearers are Peter Murray Menk, III, Brent Thomas Folsom, Paul Thomas Menk, Jr., James Patrick Moseley, Charles Lawrence Brittingham, and Thomas William Brittingham, Jr.
