Evans, Ga – Lt. Col Ronald G. Grickis, 60, beloved brother, husband, father and grandfather, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at the Medical College of Georgia. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at 3:00 PM at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with the Rev. David Keener officiating. Ron was a native of Reading, PA. He attended Villanova University and Albright College where he obtained Bachelor and Master's degrees in Economics which lead to his lifelong career as a financial planner. He served with a number of major investment companies culminating as Senior Financial Advisor/Vice President of Wells Fargo Investments, Augusta, GA. Ron served as a navigator in support of Operation Enduring Freedom/Noble Eagle in response to the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Desert Storm, and retired from the USAF reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel after 32 years of service. Ron was extraordinarily generous with his time and resources and always quick to lend a hand. He was a charter member of Christ the King Lutheran Church; served on the Board of Directors, Augusta Training Shop; was a long-time member of Rotary International and past club president; Trustee for the Georgia Rotary Student Program and instrumental to the exchange of a myriad of students from countries worldwide. Ron was a passionate supporter of the Drum and Bugle Corps throughout the United States. He also loved sports, especially enjoyed outings with his son to the Augusta Lynx and Riverhawks hockey and GSU Eagles football games. Survivors include his loving wife, Pamela Clark Grickis, his son, Jonathan Grickis, a daughter, Ashley Gilbert and husband, John and a grandchild, John Henry Gilbert V. He is also survived by his three sisters, Saundra Rineer, Kim Baughman and Cindy Parsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Pieper, Sonny McDowell, Brett Wilson, John Whitwell, Phil Sines, Tom Truitt and Ken Honsberger. Special thanks to his doctor and friend, Dr. Paul Bilodeau, and all the MCG staff. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The family will receive friends at Platt’s Belair Road funeral home on Saturday evening, December 18, 2010 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
