Mrs. Robbie Laverne Wasden Moore Dorn was welcomed into heaven on August 31, 2022, in her home, after a brief illness, surrounded by her family.
Laverne was born on May 29, 1935, to Elizabeth Katherine and Tommie A. Wasden in Milledgeville, Georgia, and she attended school in Louisville. She married Joseph W. Moore on October 3, 1952, in Louisville and made their home in Augusta, where she was a wife, mother and homemaker. Laverne was the Richmond County winner and representative at the Georgia Homemaker competition in 1965 at the Southeastern Fair in Atlanta. She was a member of the Junior Woman’s Club and a member of Trinity on the Hill Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher.
After the death of her first husband, she met and married Claude Gary Dorn on February 14, 1976. They built their dream home in Evans and lived there for over forty years.
In addition to her parents and her first husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Scott Moore, her sisters, Pauline Borders and Elizabeth Belk and her second husband, Gary Dorn. She’s survived by a daughter Lillian “Terry” Moore, her son, Martin Gary Dorn, her grand and great grandchildren, Rebecca, Brianna, Hudson, Jake, Aidan and Joseph, as well as her beloved dog, Tequila and many devoted friends.
There will be some good down-home cooking in heaven tonight!
