Richard Battle Edwards

Richard Battle Edwards, son of the late W. Grady and Kathryn Battle Edwards, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at the age of 90.

An Augusta native, Richard was a member of the ROTC and graduate of Richmond Academy and Richmond Junior College. He went on to his beloved GA Tech where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree.

Following service in the United States Air Force, Richard was employed by Monsanto while also attending and being honored as one of the first students to participate and complete the Harvard Business School Program for Management Development. He later joined Carmel Property Management of Houston, Texas in corporate real estate.

Richard is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Edwards, daughters Diane Edwards Strong (Nat) of Gainesville, Georgia and Cynthia Edwards Kirtland (Jimmy) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Linda’s son Andy Culver and wife Jackie of Jacksonville, Fl. Richard is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service celebrating Richard’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. March 12, 2022 at Westover Memorial Park with the Rev. Dr. J. Andrew Menger officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the GA Special Olympics, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and/or The American Heart Association.

Richard will be best remembered as kind and happy, a lover of golf, the Yellow Jackets, and most of all, his family.
