Augusta, GA – Mrs. Pauline Putnam Hicks, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, entered into rest on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with Brother Arthur Pigman officiating. Interment to follow in Westview Cemetery.
Pauline was born in Alvington, KY on May 19, 1920 and was raised there until 1942 when Wendell carried her to Alabama. They remained there until 1955 when she came to Augusta to rest until she could go on to an even better home.
Pauline loved her church and her family and loved to cook and eat with both. She loved to crochet and give her pieces to friends. She always was concerned and willing to help anyone who needed it. She was the glue that makes family and friends stick.
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Wendell Putnam.
Pauline is survived by her husband, Cecil Hicks; her three sons, Arthur Putnam (Judy), Charles Putnam (Janice), David Putnam (Karole); her two daughters, Vivian Baltzegar, and Ruth Cushman (Sonny); her twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Adding the Hicks clan of five children, their spouses and their children made for a wonderful expanded family.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons Greg Putnam, Chris Putnam, Wade Putnam, John Baltzegar, Brian Baltzegar, Chad Cushman, and Will Putnam.
A special thanks to her caregivers, Cecil, David, Vivian, Ruth, Donna Archer, Donna Pennager and Odyssey Hospice.
If so desired memorials may be made to the Evans Church of Christ, 515 Gibbs Rd., Evans, GA 30809
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, February 15, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM
