Patricia J. Jennings
Martinez – Patricia J. “Pat” Jennings. 70, entered into rest at her home, with her family by her side, on Thursday, February 11, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with the Rev. Jim McCollough officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Jennings was born on September 10, 1939 in Leachville, Arkansas. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maudie Hall. In 1964, she married Master Sergeant (Ret) Randall Jennings, who proceeded her in death in September 2000.
She delighted in many activities, including dancing, RVing, shopping and traveling. An avid animal lover, Pat cherished and adored each and every one of the many pets fortunate enough to be doted on by her. She was the most lighthearted and joyful when she was surrounded by her loved ones. Family was Pat’s passion, and she spent years researching ancestry so that the history could be shared by future generations.
Pat was a faithful and devout Wife, devoted and loving Mother, proud and adoring Granny and a loyal and passionate Friend. She will be greatly missed by all who love her.
She is survived by her two children, Steven (Susan) Abbott of Martinez, GA, and Denise (Gene) Compton of Athens, GA; two brothers, Wayne (Marcia) Malone of Acworth, GA, and Butch (Michelle) Lester of Chipley, FL.; a brother in law, Junior Schuler; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and five nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Vivian Shuler.
Pat’s grandsons, David Abbott, Chase Abbott and Chad Abbott, her brothers, Wayne Malone and Butch Lester, and her son in law, Gene Compton will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening, February 13, 2010 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
