Norma Dudley Griffith, age 92, of Evans went to be with the Lord on July 20, 2023 at her home in Brandon Wilde Retirement Community.
Norma was born in Lobelville, Tennessee to Fay Norman Dudley and Ruth Curl Dudley on March 13, 1931. She was raised in Lobelville and graduated from Lobelville High School before attending Middle Tennessee State Teachers College (now Middle Tennessee State University). She married D. Edwin Griffith January 27, 1951 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Norma and Ed lived in multiple locations throughout their marriage including Atlanta, Georgia; Baytown, Texas; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Miami, Florida; and Evans, Georgia. While Ed was working for Exxon Oil Company, Norma focused on raising their two sons, also working as a bookkeeper both before they were born and after they left home for school.
Norma is preceded in death by her parents, Fay and Ruth Dudley; her husband, Ed Griffith; her sister Alta Dudley; her brother Bill Dudley; and her grandson, Kyle Griffith.
Norma is survived by her brother, David Dudley and his wife, Joanne Dudley, her oldest son, Paul Griffith and his wife Joanna Griffith, and her youngest son Donald Griffith and his wife Melissa Griffith and their three daughters Meredith Peterson (and husband Wyatt Peterson), Chandler Griffith, and Kathryn Griffith along with nieces and nephews and their families.
A celebration of the life of Norma Griffith will be held in the Georgia Room at Brandon Wilde at 10:30 on Monday, July 24, 2023 with a short reception following on the Sun Porch. A private service will be held later that afternoon at First Baptist Church - Augusta, GA where Norma’s ashes will be placed in the memorial garden – together with her husband’s.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Fund at Brandon Wilde.
