Myrel A. Seigler

Augusta, GA - Mr. Myrel A. Seigler, Sr., 92, beloved husband of the late Irma Thames Seigler, entered into rest on Sunday morning, June 12, 2016.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 17, 2016, at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with Rev. Brian LaFavor officiating. Interment to follow at Westover Memorial Park.

Mr. Seigler was born in Plum Branch, SC to the late Alonza and Agnes Brown Seigler. He and his twin sister were the oldest of ten children. “Seigler,” as he was affectionately known, enjoyed working with the Boy Scouts and assisting the elderly by preparing their taxes. He worked for more than 40 years with the Georgia Railroad Bank until his retirement. Mr. Seigler was a member of Crawford Avenue Baptist Church where he served as Deacon Emeritus.

Mr. Seigler is survived by his children, Gregory Seigler, Myrel Seigler, Jr., and Rebecca Seigler Towery (Robert); his beloved daughter-in-law, Donna Seigler; his brothers, Jimmy Seigler (Barbara), and John “Pete” Seigler (Elaine); his sister, Billie Jean Bertzfield (John); his grandchildren, Thomas Gregory Seigler, Jr. (Susan), Margaret Elizabeth Seigler (fiancé Clay Riggan), Ann Kaitlyn Seigler, Ali Krislyn Seigler, Christopher W. Towery (Nikki), Michael L. Towery (Sarah), and Patrick W. Towery (Ashley); and by his great-grandchildren, Savannah Seigler, Neelou, Noah, and Natalie Towery, and Wesley and Tala Towery. He was preceded in death by his five sisters and one brother. In addition to his family, he is survived by his dear friend, Shirin Fennell. The family would also like to acknowledge his caretakers for their service and kindness, Judy Strickland and Joetta Bonham.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Seigler, Christopher Towery, Michael Towery, Patrick Towery, Charles Siple, and Edwin Timmerman.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, June 16, 2016 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
