Evans, GA – Matthew Monroe Pitcher, 42, entered into rest on Saturday, March 11, 2017.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Rd. Chapel with Rev. Tom Lowry officiating.
Matt grew up in Augusta and attended Westside High School. He enjoyed being outdoors and loved hiking the Appalachian Trail. He was well known on the trail by his nickname “Bacon & Eggs”. In addition to hiking, Matt found peace in camping and working with his hands. He was a skilled machinist and craftsman. He was a Son of American Legion Post 192 and liked spending time with veterans. Matt loved the Lord and had a heart for people that were struggling.
Survivors include his parents; Michael E. Pitcher and Connie E. Pitcher, three brothers; Jonathan Pitcher (Chanda), Todd Pitcher, Zachary Pitcher (Krista), grandmother; Doris M. Earnhardt, niece; Addison Pitcher, and numerous cousins and extended family.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
