Mrs. Hawk graduated from Newnan High School in 1967 and took several business courses at Augusta State College. She spent several years in the commercial loan industry before joining her husband in real estate at his firm Hawk and Simpson Real Estate. Mrs. Hawk worked in real estate in the Augusta area for several years in the 1990s. She retired from work at the end of the decade when she was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy.
Throughout her lifetime, Mrs. Hawk enjoyed taking care of her family and creating a warm home for them even while working fulltime. Christmases and birthdays were marked with homemade cakes and other treats. She sewed Halloween costumes and Christmas stockings for her children and was well known for her Southern cooking and baking. Mrs. Hawk was also adept at crocheting, cross-stitching, and other craft-making. Along with her husband, she cheered on the Georgia Bulldogs, listened to country music, and spent the later years of her life caring for her adopted 4-legged “child” Abby.
Mrs. Hawk will be remembered as someone who asked for little but shared so much of herself with all around her. Though her physical abilities were diminished by MD, her mind and spirit remained strong. She was a beloved wife, mother, and sister and leaves a legacy of love, caring, and selflessness. Mrs. Hawk will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
