Evans, GA – Mrs. Judy Rowell, wife of the late Mr. Robert Michael Rowell, entered into rest on Monday, November 18, 2013 at University Hospital after a long and brave battle with lung cancer, she was 73.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 7:30 PM at Platt’s Funeral Home Evans, Belair Road Chapel, with the Reverend Greg Porterfield officiating. Burial will be Saturday, November 23rd at 2:00 pm with a graveside service at Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock, Michigan.
Judy was retired from Albion Kaolin and was a devoted fan of the Atlanta Braves. She was an even bigger fan of her kids and grandkids who provided her with great joy and comfort.
Judy is survived by two sons, James M. Bowen, Jr. (and his special friend Tracy) of Lincolnton, GA; Kirk R. Bowen (and wife Mary) of North Augusta, SC; one daughter, Laurie B. Griffin (and husband Randy) of Evans, GA; two sisters, Joyce A. West (and husband Jack) of Livonia, MI, Donna S. Mikonczyk (and husband Richard) of Grosse Ile, MI; seven grandchildren, Kyle B. Bowen, James M. (Trey) Bowen, III, Andrew C. Bowen, Kendall L. Cheely, Tyler J. Griffin, Ryan J. Griffin, Seth M. Griffin, and two great grandchildren, James M. Bowen, IV, Stella Grace Bowen. Pallbearers will be her six grandsons.
Special thanks is given to Dr. Mark Keaton and the staff of Augusta Oncology, and the nurses and staff of University Hospital's Cancer an ICU units for their kindness and compassion caring for Judy over the past two years.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at Platts Funeral Home from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM prior to the service.
