Augusta, GA---Joseph “Joe” Olsofsky, 94, entered into rest on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Augusta University Medical Center.

Graveside services, with Full Military Honors, will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, May 19, 2017 at West View Cemetery.

Joe retired from the U. S. Army as a SFC after 29 years of service. He served during World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Margaret McCoy Pittman Olsofsky in 2012. His daughter, Frances Woods passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2017.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda Gail Pittman, sons, Alford Pittman (Jackie), Jerry Pittman (Theresa), son in law, Willie F. Woods, grandchildren, Tara Harris, Tamara Woods, Traci Woods Higgins (Scott), Marie Heard (Earl), Sheila Parker and Tobe Pittman, great grandchildren, Tyler Fulghum, Tate Fulghum, Tess Fulghum, Erin Yaritz, Connor Harris, Scott Evan Woods Higgins (Samantha), Savannah Higgins, Sophia Higgins, Brandy Tukes, Brian Kennedy, Billie Jean Rhodes, Megan Drake, Taylor Parker and Harrison Parker and six great great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 18, 2017 from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Platt’s Funeral Home Crawford Avenue.
