John Robert Kirk

March 18, 1929 — November 30, 2020

John Robert Kirk, 91, went home to be with is Savior on November 30, 2020 at Aiken Regional Medical Center.

He was the son of the late John Howard and Eva Stewart Kirk. He was the husband of the late Martha Hamilton Kirk. They celebrated 70 years of marriage before her passing. Their children include the late Robert M. Kirk (Janet), James H. Kirk (Cynthia), and John Daniel Kirk (Lee). His grandchildren include Brice Kirk, Robby Kirk (Jacquelyn), Brittany LeBert (James), Chris Kirk, Steven Kirk, Leanne Kirk and Michael Kirk.

A native of Owensboro, Kentucky, "Bob" worked as a tank welder for Modern Welding Company and later as a pipeline welder for a natural gas contractor. For a few years, he owned and operated two Tastee Freeze restaurants in Swainsboro, GA. Moving to Augusta in 1961, Bob worked as a construction superintendent for Martin and Adams General Contractors, where he retired in 1987. For a number of years, Bob served as part time musical director for National Hills Baptist Church where he and Martha were charter members. He also served as a deacon and building chair for the sanctuary that still stands on Washington Road. Bob's music and especially his solos were his testimony of his faith in Christ. He loved his family and his church family.

Since November of 2018, Bob was a resident of Shadow Oaks Assisted Living. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff for their love and tender care of "Mr. Kirk".

Graveside services will be private.
