Joanne Bessman, 71, entered into rest on Tuesday, April 12, 2016.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Rd. Chapel with Rev. Susan Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Joanne was a member of Pierce Memorial United Methodist Church. She retired from Publix Supermarkets after many years. Joanne was an avid fan of NASCAR and Jimmy Buffett. She loved traveling to Tybee Island, GA, Maggie Valley, NC and having yard sales. Her greatest love was her family and she will be remembered for always being there for anyone that needed her.

Survivors include her sons; Jamie Bessman (Lisa) of Evans, GA, Joey Bessman (Jami Craps) of Aiken, SC, daughter; Jennifer Bessman of Evans, GA, two brothers; Donald Maddox of Augusta, GA, Randy Maddox (Suzanne) of Thomson, GA, five grandchildren; Bailie Bessman, Maddy Bessman McAdams, Brantley Bessman Paquette, Conner Bessman, dear friend; Cheryl Stewart, and many extended family members. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents Audley and Ruth Maddox, and her grandson, Jacob Bessman.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Cliett, Wayne Morris, Ray Phillips, David Maddox, Billy Maddox, and Richard Johnson.

The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Waverly Gardens of Evans for the care given to Joanne during her stay there.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at the funeral home.
