Augusta, GA---Mr. Jesse George McElmurray, Jr., 81, husband of Mary Nell McElmurray, entered into rest on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Doctor’s Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 18, 2013 at Grace Fellowship of Augusta with Reverend Brian Fields and Dr. Sandra G. Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow at the Hammond Cemetery, Beech Island, SC.
Mr. McElmurray was a graduate of North Augusta High School and Clemson University, where he received his degree in Agricultural Engineering. Jesse served in the U. S. Army Signal Corps, during the Korean Conflict. He was the owner and President of Beech Island Steam, Inc., in Clearwater, SC, was co-owner of McElmurray Farms and worked in sales and as an engineering consultant in the paper industry. Mr. McElmurray was a member of the Board of the North Augusta Chamber of Commerce for 10 years and was President for 1 year. He was President of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship of Augusta for 5 years and was a Field Representative for the Full Gospel Men’s Fellowship of Georgia for many years. He was involved in prison ministry and also led and taught Bible study groups, throughout the local communities. Mr. McElmurray had a passion for helping people, giving tirelessly of his time, resources and energy, because of his love for his Lord Jesus Christ. He was a member of Grace Fellowship of Augusta.
Additional survivors include two sons, Mike McElmurray (Laura) of Greenville, TN, Danny McElmurray of New Orleans, LA, his daughter, Kathy Sargent (Rickey) of Barnwell, SC, two step-daughters, Marty Black of Charlotte, NC, Beth Heard (Tom) of Grayson, GA, two brothers, Tom McElmurray (Jean), Pete McElmurray (Libba), both of Jackson, SC, and grandchildren, Hannah Sargent, Megan McElmurray, Lisa McElmurray, step –grandchildren, Lindsay Egidio (Ben), Matt Heard and Stephen Heard.
The family will receive friends and Mr. McElmurray will lie in state, at Grace Fellowship of Augusta, from 1:00 pm until the time of services.
