Augusta, GA---Mr. James William Boyles, Sr. 99, entered into rest on Sunday, November 8, 2015 peacefully at his residence.
Private graveside services will be held at Westover Memorial Park. No visitation is scheduled.

Mr. Boyles was born in Seigling, SC and was self-employed as the owner of Boyles Insurance and Real Estate business for over 50 years. He served three years in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served as a past chairman of the Civil Service Commission of Augusta, as well as a member of the Augusta Board of Realtors. He, also, served on several zoning board committees over the years. He was an avid gardener and outdoorsman. He loved to tell the story that he worked as an 18 year old at the first Masters Tournament, washing china dishes at the concessions stand near hole number sixteen. He loved fishing, farming, local politics, the stock market, the Masters tournament, and discussing all of it with his fellow contemporaries down at the 8th Street coffee shops. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jamie Boyles and Lucille Harden and his wife of 67 years, Hazel Elizabeth Jackson Boyles.
He is survived by his daughters, Carolyn B. Tatum and husband Bill, of Evans, GA, and Tricia B. Salter and husband Jimmy, of Mt. Pleasant, SC. and James W. (Jim) Boyles, Jr. and wife Sandy, of Athens, GA., eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was a beloved Father by us all.
