Augusta– Mr. James E. Kuhn, husband of the late Zelda Newsome Kuhn, entered into rest on Sunday, December 26, 2010 at National Health Care in North Augusta.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 11:00 am at Westover Memorial Park with his grandson, the Rev. Brad Staton officiating.
Mr. Kuhn is survived by his son, John Thomas Staton (Kathy) of Augusta, his daughters, Jenny K. Ford (Pat) of Martinez and Bev. K. Wakeley (Richard) of Jacksonville and a brother, Floyd Kuhn (Marie)of Mt. Holly Springs, PA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, John Staton Jr. (Michelle) of Martinez, Brad Staton (Lindsey) of Orlando, Ashley Staton Piquette (Matthew)of Carrollton, GA. , Melanie Ford Cundey of Martinez, Patrick Ford (Ashley) of Evans, and Steve Wakeley, Travis Wakeley and Kevin Wakeley, all of Jacksonville. In addition, he is survived by 14 great grandchildren.
Mr. Kuhn was a veteran of the Army Air Force, and served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a lifetime member of the Elks, a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church, where he was an usher, as well as a member of the Local Pipefitters Union 150. Most of his working life was spent at the Savannah River Site, and before that at the Clarks Hill Dam Project. Jim was the epitome of a kind Southern gentleman, and was dearly loved by his family and friends. Now he can rest in peace and be with his beloved Zelda, who passed away two years ago.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Augusta Gardens, Heartland Hospice, National Health Care and Solaris Hospice for all the love and support shown to Jim over these last several months.
