Jacqueline J. Proto

Augusta, GA---Mrs. Jacqueline Jenkins Proto, 79, entered into rest on Friday, August 29, 2008 at Trinity Hospital of Augusta.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, August 31, 2008, in the Platt’s Funeral Home Crawford Avenue Chapel with Reverend Linda G. Birchall officiating.
Graveside services and interment will be held on Monday, September 1, 2008 at West View Cemetery, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Mrs. Proto was a native of Atlanta and had lived in Augusta for the past 32 years. She was a Past President of Women in the Motion Picture Industry, in Atlanta, Past President of Post 1 American Legion Auxiliary, in Atlanta, Past President of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 63, in Augusta and was a member of St. James United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Merrill and Lilar Mae Jenkins and her brother, James Ivan Jenkins.

Survivors include her husband, Rocco J. “Rocky” Proto, sons, Patrick Lee Cowart and wife Jacque, David Reid Cowart and wife Denise and Raoul “Ricky” Llorens, step-daughters, Sylvia Proto and Patricia Proto, step-son, Richard Proto and wife Carrolanne, grandchildren, Andrew, Ryan, Brittani, Dustin, Pam and Faith, great grandchildren, Leah, Jordon and Hayden.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 31, 2008 from 2:00 pm until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the St. James United Methodist Church, Elevator Fund, 439 Greene Street, Augusta, GA 30901.
