Ilona Traute Clark, entered into rest at her home in Martinez, Ga on Monday, January 22, 2024 surrounded by her family.
She was born March 12, 1955 in Cuxhaven, Germany to parents Hubert and Waltraud Tietz. In June of 1988, she married her beloved husband, Robert Paul Clark, and they enjoyed over 35 years of marriage together.
In addition to her husband, Ilona is survived by her son Bjorn Heckmus (Manuela); daughters Tanja Knoblauch (Mikael), and Jessica Hartley (John): brothers Holger Tietz, Thomas Tietz, and Andreas Tietz; sisters Sylvia Alberts, Claudia Da Silva Povoa, and Kathrine Von Aspern; grandchildren Dakota, Cheyenne, Montana, Sydney, Madison, Isabella, and Chantal; and one great grandson, Mikael.
Ilona Clark was born and raised by her parents in Bremerhaven, Germany. There she met her husband Robert Clark whom she married. In 1992, the US Army took Ilona and Robert and family to Augusta, Ga, where they raised their family and put down their roots. Ilona was a long time employee of the Augusta National, from which she retired after 22 years. Ilona had a love for the ocean which reminded her of her hometown in Germany. She also had a strong love for her family and family meant everything to her.
A service celebrating Ilona’s life will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 1:00pm at Platt’s Funeral Home, Belair Road Chapel, Chaplain Hephzibah James officiating. The family will receive guests for two hours prior to the service.
