Gulbahar Rose Mrs. Borden

October 15, 1953 — May 19, 2012

EVANS – Mrs. Gulbahar “Rose” Borden, 58, beloved wife of Mike Borden, entered into rest on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Gulbahar was born in Yesilyazi-Sivas, Turkey on Oct. 15th, 1953 but grew up in Kadikoy, Istanbul Turkey. She came to America as a young adult and proudly became a U.S. citizen. She worked as an Architectural Assistant for 26 years.
Gulbahar means “Rose in Spring” in Turkish and she was always like that; beautiful with a young caring heart. She was the most loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend anybody could want. She loved getting together with family and friends and just talking and listening to them for hours. She was truly a unique person who left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Gulbahar also loved flowers, fashion, art, travel, dining, nature, listening to jazz with a glass of wine and going to beach or Atlanta shopping. She was also just as happy staying at home and watching butterflies and birds in the back yard with her husband Mike. Gulbahar knew and appreciated the finer things in life. She was also founding member of the Woo-Woo Sisterhood.

Survivors include her husband Mike, her daughter Jale Smith and husband Grant, and her grandchildren Tyler and Logan Smith. In addition she is survived by her family in Turkey; father Hasan Siranli, brothers, Sebahattin and Osman Siranli, sister Gulhava Siranli and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Emine Siranli. She also leaves behind her extended family David, Karen, Geoff, Regina, Alex and Laura Stewart.

If so desired, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 2607 Commons Blvd, Augusta, Georgia, 30909.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, May 22, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

Funeral services will be private.
