EVANS- Mr. Glenn Edward Martin, 67, entered into rest on Friday, August 10, 2012 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Greg Porterfield and the Rev. Pat Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
Mr. Martin, a native of Florida, retired from the United States Army after 22 years of service which included installing communications centers in the U.S. and Korea, supervising electronic equipment repair facilities in Germany, and fielding electronic systems for the Apache helicopter. He most recently worked as an industry Job Profiler for Piedmont Technical College. Prior to that, he created and conducted training classes in industrial and mechanical equipment for Augusta Technical College. He also worked at the Savannah River Site in electronic and instrumentation specialties and for the U.S. Postal Service. Extremely outgoing and generous, he thrived on relationships and was the kind of person who never met a stranger and never forgot a friend. He was a family man who loved the outdoors. In his free time, he could be found gardening at home or fishing at the lake. He was a Boy Scout leader and spent many years in service to the Scouts. As an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church, he served on the security staff and was a member of the Board of Trustees. He was involved in many church activities including the Mechanics Ministry and teaching Sunday school.
He is survived by his beloved wife and partner of 35 years, Carol Meeker Martin, his sons, Brian Martin (Kristin) and Michael Martin, his daughters, Tina McFatridge (Lee) and Crystal Martin, and his sisters, Linda Hickox (Ron) and Sonia Wadsworth.
In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren, Ashley Wiggins (Jason), Matthew McFatridge, Mercy McFatridge, Joshua Martin, Jacob Martin and Torie Martin, his great grandchildren, Gracie Wiggins and Ellie Wiggins, as well as his close friend, Bill Nims.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ralph and Odessa Langston Martin, his brothers, Gary Martin and Austin Martin, and his sisters, Mary Francis Walker and Alice Faye Martin.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Dickson, Dave Meeker, Cameron Turner, Garrett Scearce, Jason Wiggins and Mark Storey.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening, August 13, 2012 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
