Martinez, GA – Gilbert Samuelson, 93, of Martinez, GA and Willsboro Point, NY, formally of Westfield, NJ, entered into rest on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home in Augusta, Ga.

Mr. Samuelson was a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in mechanical engineering. While there, he was the captain of the hockey team and a member of the M Club. Mr. Samuelson served his country in the United States Navy in the Pacific theater during World War II. Mr. Samuelson retired from Ingersoll-Rand where he worked for 37 years. He was the Utility and Marine Pump Regional Sales Manager. He was a member of Westlake Country Club and was past president of the Black River Fish and Game Club in Far Hills, NJ. Mr. Samuelson was an avid golfer and fisherman. In addition, he loved to spend time gardening and sailing. Mr. Samuelson was a devoted husband and father.

Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Florence Browning Samuelson, of Martinez, GA, two sons, Gilbert Browning Samuelson and wife Chris of Evans, GA, William Ellsworth Samuelson and wife Cindy of Enosburg Falls, VT, one daughter, Sally Ann Langley and husband Ken of Rochester, NY, eight grandchildren, Gilbert “Beau” Samuelson, Kelly Heard, Jenney Samuelson-Hytten, Leslie Moreau, Billy Samuelson, Megan Langley, Catherine Langley, Heather Langley, and seven great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Rd.
A private service will be held at a later date at Lake Champlain, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home, 1101 15th Street, Augusta, GA 30901, or to the charity of ones choice.
