Gerald Luther Miller

Augusta, GA – Gerald Luther Miller, 81, husband of 54 years to Ada Bradley Miller, entered into rest on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at University Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Rd. chapel with Pastor Linda Paisley and Chaplain Frankie May officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Westover Memorial Park.

Gerald was born in Nescopeck, PA, the son of the late Victor Parvin and Leona Yost Miller. Mr. Miller had resided for 60 years. He was a United States Army veteran and served in the Korean Conflict. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, and many other military awards. Gerald retired from Savannah River Plant where he worked as a Production Manager for DuPont. He was a member of the American Legion Post 205 in Augusta, GA, Veteran of Foreign Wars in Benton, PA, and the Harold Atkins Korean War Vets Association in South Carolina. Gerald was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He founded the Holiday Hunting Club and loved spending time at his lakehouse. Gerald was a father, uncle, brother, and friend to many.

Other than his parents, he was also preceded in death two brothers Glenn Miller, Robert Miller; and two sisters, Fern Miller Huffman, Zereta Miller.

In addition to his wife, survivors include one brother, Donald Lloyd Miller, Sr. and wife Beatrice of Nescopeck, PA, one sister, Dawn Miller Lupini and husband Louis of Mifflinville, PA, nieces and nephews, Cindy Garrison Welch, Norma Seigler Wallace, Angela Ann Seigler, William Thomas Seigler, Jr., great nieces and nephews, Amy Welch McNeal and husband Curtis, Sarah Seigler Yates, Donald Lewis Welch, III and wife Lisa, and five great great nieces and nephews, Maddelyn, Garrison, Mary Grace, Miller, and Ansley.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 from 6:00PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Mike Paul, Mark Inglett, Mark Ryan, Mark Yorouski, Donald Welch, Curtis McNeal, Jeff Swearingen, and Danny Norton.

The family would like to give special thanks to Celestine Ware and JoAnn Rouser. Also, thanks to Jennifer Morgan and Nathan Saxon with University Hospital Cardiovascular Unit and Walter Hargrove with Palliative Care.
