Augusta, GA – Mr. Frank Joseph McGowan, 88, entered into rest on Monday December 1, 2008 at his residence. He went home to be with the Lord and be reunited with his beloved wife, the late Lotte Barbara McGowan.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday December 3, 2008 at 12:15 PM at the Church of the Most Holy Trinity with the Rev. Michael Lubinsky as celebrant.
Mr. McGowan was born in Manhattan of New York City to the late Frank J. McGowan and Lillian Crowley McGowan. He was a retired Signal Corp instructor at Fort Gordon for 30 years. He was also of the Greatest Generation who served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He enjoyed time with his family.
Additional survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Barbara McGowan of Blythe, GA, James McGowan of Augusta, GA, Mike McGowan of Augusta, GA, Donald and Anne McGowan of Augusta, GA, and Brian and Becky McGowan of Aiken, SC; and his fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Active and Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Catholic Social Services, 811 12th Street, Augusta, GA, 30901.
A vigil for the deceased will be held on Tuesday evening December 2, 2008 at 6:00 PM at Platt’s Funeral Home Crawford Avenue Chapel. The family will receive friends following the vigil until 8:00 PM.
