Francisco Javier Estrada

November 22, 1984 — August 19, 2023


Master Sergeant Francisco (Frank) Javier Estrada, 38, a 20-year veteran of the active component of the United States Army, beloved husband of Bobbie Estrada, and devoted father to Kaitlyn(19), Benjamin(15), Lauren(7), and Lucille(1), passed away in his home on the evening of August 19, 2023. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Road. The burial will take place at a later date.

Frank's journey through the military was a testament to his dedication and service. He enlisted in the Army in August 2003 as a 74B now 25B, Information Systems Analyst. He went to Basic Combat training at Fort Jackson, SC and attended AIT at Fort Gordon, GA. He has served in multiple tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. In August of 2014, ISG Estrada was selected for the 25D, Cyber Net¬work Defender Pilot Course and in 2016 transitioned to his current MOS I7C, Cyber Operations Analyst

MSG Estrada's duty assignments include: Information Systems Specialist, Automation Information Systems Team Leader, HHC, 1st Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (AIRBORNE), Fort Campbell, KY; Senior Local Area Network Sustainment Automation Support Management Office (SASMO) ,HHC, 501st Sustainment Brigade, Camp Carrol, South Korea; Battalion S6 NCOIC and Platoon Sergeant, 501st Special Troops Battalion, Camp Carroll, South Korea; Information Systems Team Chief, HHC 1st Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (AIRBORNE), Fort Campbell, KY; Senior Security Analyst and Cyber Operations Supervisor, 400 Cyber Protection Team, Cyber Protection Brigade, Fort Gordon, GA; Defensive Cyber Operations Infrastructure (DCO-I) Research and Development NCOIC, Cyber Division, Cyber Protection Brigade, Fort Gordon, GA; Brigade S3 Operations NCOIC, Cyber Protection Brigade, Fort Gordon GA; First Sergeant, Bravo Company, Cyber Training Battalion, Fort Gordon, GA; First Sergeant, Headquarters & Alpha Company, Cyber Training Battalion, Fort Gordon, GA Senior Instructor and Technical College NCOIC for the United States Army Cyber School and his last assignment was the Cyber Training and Education Directorate Sergeant Major for the Cyber School.

His military education includes the Warrior Leaders Course; Advanced Leaders Course; Army Special Operations Aviation Enlisted Combat Skill; Combative Level I; Army Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE); COMSEC Custodian Course, Local COMSEC Manager Course, Cyber Network Defense Course, Assured Compliance Assessment Solution Course (ACAS), Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course, Joint Cyber Operations Planner Course, Battle Staff, Cadre Training Course, and the Common Faculty Developer Instructor Course, First Sergeant Course, and Master Leaders Course

MSG Estrada's numerous awards to include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (8 OLC), Air Force Achievement Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (I CS), Iraq Campaign Medal (3 CS), Korean National Defense Service Medal, and the NATO Award.


Yet, beyond the uniform, Frank's heart was equally dedicated to his community. He was an inspiring Scout and Cub Master, shaping the lives of young Scouts and Cubs alike, including his own children. His commitment to mentoring extended further as he spearheaded the Cyber Patriot program at Harlem High School, and he was also recognized as the Vice Commander of the VFW post in Harlem, a testament to his dedication to both service and camaraderie.

Frank's journey was one of service, compassion, and love. His memory will remain etched in the hearts of those he touched through his military commitment, his community involvement, and the warmth of his family. In honoring Master Sergeant Francisco Javier Estrada, we celebrate a life that touched many and left an indelible mark on the world. He is survived by his parents, Christobal and Peggy Estrada, and his sisters, Hazel Kenady (Cameron) and Jennifer Estrada.
