GIBSON – Mrs. Frances Moats Hammett, beloved wife of the late Marion Hammett, entered into rest on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 in Gibson, Georgia.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Westover Memorial Park with the Rev. Phillip Hedgcoth officiating.

Mrs. Hammett was a native of Jefferson County, and a member of the Georgia Power Ambassadors. She worked at Owens Illinois, formerly Lily Tulip, for more than 35 years before retiring. For as long as she was able, Mrs. Hammett was very active at First Baptist Church of Evans. She was a member of the Bereavement Committee and helped organize blood drives and other church functions. She loved her church family and enjoyed traveling with her close friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Francene Taylor and husband, Trace, and niece, Cheryl Bazemore and husband Roger, a great niece and great nephew, Laurie and Greg Thomas, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, October 11, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
