Mrs. Felicia Cominsky, 92, of Dunwoody Road, entered into rest on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at home surrounded by her family and best friend, Joanne.
There will be a Vigil for the Deceased at 6:00 PM on Friday evening, May 28, 2021 at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel. The family will then receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Grovetown on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 1:00 pm with the Reverend Michael Ingram. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens on Wrightsboro Road.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Dr. Leona “Shelley” and Kenneth W. Mishoe of Virginia Beach and Sandra C. Black of Martinez; four grandchildren Leon J. Cominsky Jr., K. Wesley Mishoe (Lauren), N. Thomas Hightower IV, and Jeffrey M. Mishoe (Susan); and four great grandchildren, Liliana Cominsky, Carter Cominsky, Madelyn Mishoe and Harper Mishoe.
She was predeceased by her parents, Luigi and Louise Messina, her brothers, Sam Messina and Joe Messina; husband, Leon M. Cominsky and son, Leon J. Cominsky.
A native of Syracuse, New York she was a past long time member of Sacred Heart Basilica where she was active in the Mother’s Club introducing her famous pizza recipe, which is still a tradition at church events. She was an usher and member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, and the Italian-American Club. Felicia was a gourmet baker, master chef and superb hostess who delighted many guests of all nationalities to wonderful meals and hospitality. She is known by her friends and family as the ‘Cookie Lady” for her impressive talents making a variety of Italian, Polish and American cookies and pastries. She was baking and cooking into her 90s and nothing delighted her more than gatherings with family and friends in her home. She was a faithful servant to the Lord who modeled her Christian faith to her family, friends and all people.
Pallbearers will be N. Thomas Hightower IV, Preston George Tracy, Kenneth W. Mishoe, K. Wesley Mishoe, Jeffrey M. Mishoe and Leon J. Cominsky.
