Martinez, GA - Mrs. Evelyn Swint Johnson, 82, wife of the late Denton Lamar Johnson, Sr., entered into rest Friday, June 20, 2014.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 23, 2014 at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Rd Chapel with Dr. David McKinley officiating. Burial will follow at Johnson United Methodist Church Cemetery in Warrenton, GA.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Glascock County to the late Jacob Samuel Swint and Nealie Mae Chalker Swint. She was a loving wife and mother, and admired by all who were privileged to call her a friend. She resided in Richmond County over forty years, until her husband’s retirement in 1992 and then moved back to their hometown of Gibson, Georgia. She was a member and regular volunteer at Magnolia Baptist Church in Glascock County. She loved spending time with family and tending her flowers. She taught her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to fish and enjoy the outdoors.

She is survived by her three children; Dale (Barney) Duncan, Summerville, SC, Denton (Donna) Johnson Jr., Martinez, GA and Larry (Chrissy) Johnson, Little River, SC; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Swint and Ray Swint, and two sisters, Louise Landrum and Teenie Smith.

Pallbearers will be Wilton Davis, Dennis Lam, Josh Johnson, Lee Lancaster, Mark Sullivan and Wayne Landrum.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 22, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
