Eleanor Carr Norton

Clinton, MD – Eleanor Carr Norton, 89, of Augusta, GA died March 3, 2012 in Clinton, Maryland.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 9, 2012 at the Church of the Most Holy Trinity with Rev. Jacek Szuster serving as celebrant.

Born March 1, 1923 in Augusta, GA, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Marie Carr. Eleanor spent her childhood in Augusta and was a graduate of Aquinas High School. She worked at Oliver General Hospital and the Treasury Department in Washington, D.C. as a secretary. She married the late Francis W. Norton and together they moved 26 times around the country before returning to Augusta in 1985. She was an active member of the Church of the Most Holy Trinity in Augusta. She briefly was in Waldorf, MD to be closer to her family while recovering from an illness.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Selzler of Augusta, GA; her son, John P. Norton and his wife Grace A. Norton of Waldorf, MD; and her grandchildren, Angela M. Norton and John Francis Norton of Waldorf, MD.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Francis W. Norton and her brother, Patrick Carr

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, March 8, 20112 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
