Duane Michael Day, 78, of Evans, GA, passed away on October 9, 2022, in Augusta, GA.
Mike was born in Ripton, VT to Philip Edson Day and Agnes Viola Nielsen on April 27, 1944.
He went to school at Burlington High School. He married Holly Goodman on November 17, 2002, in Augusta, GA. He graduated from The University of Vermont with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, and from The University of Rhode Island where he earned his Master's Degree in Organic Chemistry. He worked as a chemist for Hoechst Celanese for 20 years, and for Searle, Pharmacia and Pfizer Pharmaceutical companies in Augusta, GA for 14 years. He then worked as a pharmaceutical manufacturing consultant for another 6 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Army for 6 years after completing Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning. He kept in touch with his OCS classmates for the rest of his life. He was a commercial brewer at The Aiken Brew Pub in Aiken, SC.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Niel Edson Day.
Mike is survived by wife, Holly Day, son Sean Michael Day (Katy), Goose Creek, SC, sister, Carol Kelly of CA, sister Cricket Laidman (Bob), VT, grandchildren Sophia and Kyle Day, Sisters and brother-in-law Lori Baer, Ellen Goodman and Jon Goodman of Hollywood, FL, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Colin McLeod, his Parkinson's Disease specialist, Dr. Alexis Shaefer, his neurologist. Special thank you to all of the nurses, therapists and other medical personnel who cared for Mike at the VA and elsewhere.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday October 29, 2022 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Vergennes, VT with Bram Kranichfeld Deacon in Charge officiating.
