Claire Lynne Pinson

d. December 11, 2012

Martinez - Claire Lynne Pinson, 57, of Martinez, GA, entered into rest on Tuesday, December 11 at University Hospital. A member of Marvin United Methodist Church, Lynne was born and raised in Gainesville, GA and received a journalism and communications degree from Brenau University which enabled her to become the news director of several radio stations.
Lynne’s true calling was in the field of education where she taught for 29 years in Warren, McDuffie and Richmond Counties. As a high school teacher, she would make literature come alive for her students with her clever yet practical antics; however, the production of numerous yearbooks at Thomson High School were most memorable. After completing her counseling degree at Augusta College, Lynne became a school counselor for Hephzibah and Blythe Elementary where she was a devoted advocate of her kids as well as their families and the community.
Lynne had a gift of encouragement which carried over outside of the education realm into the Thursday Evening Bible study where she texted Scripture and prayers every day without fail. She was also an integral member of the Ga-lina Emmaus Community. Lynne was full of wisdom and compassion, boldness and fun. She enjoyed kayaking, gardening, the mountains and the ocean. May her encouraging spirit live on in all who knew and loved her.
Lynne is survived by her mother, Virginia Pinson of Keysville, GA, her sister Linda (James) Taylor of Thomson, Ga., her brother Tom Pinson of Thomson, GA. and Thomas Edward Pinson of Snellville, GA. , her step-mother, Geraldine Pinson of Norcross, GA., uncles, James (David) Pinson of Douglasville, GA., Cecil (Lee) Pinson of Lizella, GA., an aunt Inez Brown of Conyers, GA., two nieces, Jessica Carroll of Rossville, GA. and Kasee King of Chattanooga, TN as well as several cousins and two extra special friends, Bob Porter of Morrow, GA. and Leslie Wright of Martinez, GA.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 4pm at Platt’s Funeral Home on N. Belair Rd with the Rev. Elizabeth Ackerman officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-4pm.
