Charles Frank Kelly

Charles Frank Kelly, 96, died on Wednesday, March 3. The family plans a private service.

Mr. Kelly was born in Ballground, GA son of Allice Howard Kelley and Sterling Kelley.
He was a veteran of WW II and the Korean War and a true patriot who loved his country. He proudly retired from the US Army after 23 years of service. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a man's man and loved all things outdoors.
He was a hunter, fisherman, boater and an avid golfer. He taught cross country skiing, snowshoeing as well as glacier “climbing” while stationed in Fort Richardson, Alaska. He had a green thumb and adored his spunky dog, Luna.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Walburga Kelly. Survivors include his son, Fred W. C. Kelly (Judith) of Augusta; daughter Vivien K. Butler (Harry L. III) of Marietta, GA; son, Ronald F. Kelly of Augusta; grandson H. Lee Butler IV (Jan M.) of New York City; granddaughter, Patricia Kelly Thompson (Mike) of Appling, GA; grandson, Billy Kelly (Stacy) of Walterboro, SC; grandson, Joel Kelly (Theresa) of Augusta and 11 great-grandchildren.
