AUGUSTA, GA – Charles F. Sidener, beloved husband of 61 years to Elvenia B. Sidener entered into rest on Monday, May 15, 2016 at Doctors Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Central Christian Church with Rev. Milton Summerall officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

A lifelong resident of Augusta, Mr. Sidener graduated from Richmond Academy and went on to join the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army completing 26 years of service to his country, retiring as US Army Sergeant First Class. During his time of service, he fought in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He also retired from DSM – Columbia Nitrogen – Augusta. He was member of the Scottish Rite as a 32nd degree Mason with Fleming Masonic Lodge #718. A devout member of Central Christian Church, he served as deacon, Sunday school superintendent, and teacher. For relaxation, he and Mrs. Sidener found great pleasure in their years with the Richmond Reels Square Dance Club.

Survivors also include: two sons, Frank Sidener, Jr and Thomas A. Sidener (Jan); three daughters, Sandra Sidener, Charlene Greenhaw (Bryan), and Cheryl McKinnon (Edwin); two sisters, Betty Bush and Jimmie Wheatley; his sister-in-law, Rae Sidener; seven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Robert Greenhaw, Stephen Greenhaw, Michael Greenhaw, Thomas Sidener, Jr, and Bryan Greenhaw and Darren Miller.
